Radially Oriented NdFeB Ring Magnets

Radially oriented neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) ring magnets are state-of-the-art ring magnets with diverse magnetization patterns in radial direction. In general, they provide high performance and cost-effective alternatives to arc/segment magnets. According to different production processes, radially oriented NdFeB ring magnets include sintered NdFeB ring magnets, bonded NdFeB ring magnets and hot-pressed NdFeB ring magnets.

Features of Radially Oriented NdFeB Ring Magnets

1. High dimensional accuracy,
2. Optional magnetization patterns including single pole, straight multi-pole and skew multi-pole types,
3. A single ring magnet makes assembly and installation easy and low cost,
4. Simple and stable structure guarantees excellent dynamic balance performance, and
5. Uniform magnetic properties and magnetization waves distribution contribute to low motor noise and smooth torque output.

Although radially oriented NdFeB ring magnets have the above advantages, they need a pressing mold and a magnetizing fixture for production including samples preparation. A set of these custom tools costs 1,000 to 7,000 USD depending on custom magnet’s specifications, so the cost of product development is relatively high in the early stage.

  2. I need 2 spindle magnetic rings for a mini wood lathe. One of my magnets is broken and won’t allow electrical signal to be sent from the switch to in turn start the spindle. lathe is a 3/4HP variable speed.
    Using calipers I determined the ring to be 3mm thick; 6mm wide with an OD of 35mm & ID = 29mm. Is this something you can supply?

    ### Magnet Dimensions

    All magnets shall have the following dimensions:

    * Outer diameter: 60 mm
    * Inner diameter: 50 mm
    * Axial thickness: 6 mm
    * Material: Sintered NdFeB
    * Preferred grade: N52, or the closest technically suitable grade recommended by your engineering team
    * Preferred coating: Ni-Cu-Ni

    ### Magnetization Types Required per Set

    Each complete system contains two alternators. Each alternator requires eight ring magnets.

    Therefore, one complete set requires a total of 16 ring magnets as follows:

    2. Four radially magnetized outward rings:

    * Outer circumference: North

    4. Radial magnetization: Outer South / Inner North
    5. Axial magnetization: Face A North / Face B South
    6. Radial magnetization: Outer North / Inner South
    7. Axial magnetization: Face A South / Face B North
    8. Radial magnetization: Outer South / Inner North

    Please clearly mark the magnetization direction and reference faces on each magnet or on its individual packaging.
